What should you do if you find a stray or feral cat? (And what the heck’s the difference between them?) What if the animal is injured? Why does cat overpopulation exist, and what can be done to ameliorate the problem?
Please join us for a conversation with Sara Whalen, Executive Director of Pets Alive, a no-kill animal shelter that rescues, rehabilitates, and places animals in need. Shelter volunteers help animals who have been “victims of neglect, abuse, and violence; many of them have special needs and have been rejected by other organizations.” Whalen, who has extensive knowledge in relocating cat colonies, will share her expertise and tips with our listeners.
We will also be joined by Joe Miele, who works with the New Jersey Animal Rights Alliance and acts as one of their feral cat advisors. He’ll tell us about maintaining “a colony of seventeen neutered, vaccinated and beautiful feral cats.” Miele is the recipient of the Alley Cat Allies Feral Cat Activist of the Year 2004 award. Tune in to find out about his experiences trapping and transporting feral animals.
