In this special tea-time episode of AV recorded live in Karol’s kitchen, we catch up with Ken Bontius and Helen Prancic of ARK II, the Animal Rights Kollective of Toronto. Over the course of an hour and several cups of berry and black tea, we learn about the extensive history of ARK II, its early ties with the Toronto Humane Society, how it progressed as an independent organization, and how decisions are made in its non-coercive process. Ken and Helen also paint an excellent picture of where ARK II puts its energy now, and some of the successes and bloopers that have happened along the way.
This show is a portrait of a grassroots organization that has had a huge impact on the Toronto animal advocacy scene, and a story that can be inspiring for any new organizations just getting off the ground anywhere.
