Vegan Fitness & Nutrition: Ultramarathoner Brendan Brazier, Dr. Occhipinti, & Chef Chloe Coscarelli

On this week’s show, fitness trainer and former co-host of Animal Voices, Rob Moore, returns to discuss fitness and nutrition with some of today’s top experts.

First, we’ll reconnect with Brendan Brazier, Canadian ultramarathon champ and creator of Vega, who’s been busy veganizing Hollywood. In case you haven’t heard, Wolverine, aka Hugh Jackman, has become a fan and wrote the foreword to Brazier’s book, Thrive: The Vegan Nutrition Guide to Optimal Performance in Sports and Life. We’ll discuss superheroes, vegans and what you need to be a fit, healthy vegan.

Then answering your questions on vegan nutrition will be Dr. Mark Occhipinti, nutrition consultant and president of the American Fitness Professionals & Associates (AFPA). Please post your questions at www.animalvoices.ca or Rob’s facebook page.

And since Rob is a big believer in balance, we can’t talk about healthy food without talking about cupcakes! And not just any cupcakes. These cupcakes earned Chef Chloe Coscarelli top prize on the Food Network’s Cupcake Wars! (Watch the video here.) Chef Chloe will discuss her amazing vegan fare and give her top tips to our vegan baker listeners.

  1. Hey great episode but I wanted to correct something Mark Occhipinti said at 23:20 in the podcast. A cup of broccoli does not have 15g of protein but around 4.5 to 5 grams for a cup of cooked broccoli, raw would be 2.6 – 3 grams per cup.
