It’s the dead of night and you’re searching a park for shooters armed with rifles and night-vision goggles, hoping to find them before the government men nab you. Is this an episode of 24? No, it’s just another day of volunteering with Animal Liberation Australian Capital Territory.

al-act_225wPutting themselves in harm’s way to stop mass killings of kangaroos is just one of ALACT’s many activities. They also campaign against factory farms and circuses, work to protect koalas and wild ducks, and even run candidates in state and federal political elections to serve as a voice for animals. Animal Voices is grateful to Carolyn Drew for working around a 16-hour time difference to tell us all about the work of this very active group.
